4th Annual USMC Mud Challenge Winners

Congratulations to the CrossFit Coastal team that competed in the 4th Annual USMC Mud Challenge in Belmont, NC. They secured 2nd place out of 114 teams with a blazing time of 53:08.

(Also a big shout out to Shauni Emerson who won 1st place in the USMC Pushup Challenge they held at the event. Her pushups were with awesome form – great job representing CrossFit Coastal well in front of hundreds of seasoned athletes.)

Here’s an overview of the course…

10 two count push-ups by direction, start race,

  • 10 yd Duck walk off the starting line, run,
  • 25 yds of lunges, run .5 miles,
  • 50yd duck walk, run,
  • 10 Squat thrusts, 25 side straddle hops, run, water station,
  • Rope obstacles between trees, run off road,
  • Low crawl through pipes, run,
  • Football-type tire run,
  • 5 foot incline wall obstacle, small mud pit, off-road run,
  • Over-under log obstacles, run, water station,
  • 8 foot ‘A’ frame wall obstacle, serious trail run, water station,
  • Sand bag carry, run into mud pit,
  • Longer mud pit with wall obstacle, rope climb, low crawl, squat thrusts in the pit, side straddle hops, water station,
  • Sand bag carry, long off and on road run,
  • Surprise obstacles, low crawl,
  • Cross finish line – arm in arm or fireman’s carry.
  • Total running distance ~4.25 miles – longer and tougher than last year’s race.

Our crew put their functional fitness to the test and did great!
