What Everybody Ought to Know About Greg Ford

Full Name: Julian Gregory Ford
CrossFit Coastal Member since: December of 2008
Family: My wife Stephanie Ford and me. We were married on July 22, 2006.
Occupation: Owner and Creative Director of Ford Design Group, LLC.
Hobbies: Surfing, golf, beach volleyball, riding my road bike, snowboarding, working in the yard, painting and photography
Proudest Accomplishment: Starting my business in 1992 with no business background or money. I was fortunate to have very low overhead and a lot of will power.
Perfect Day: Wake up and see my wife’s smiling face, eat a nice breakfast and then go for a morning surf. The wind would be slightly offshore and the surf would be perfect, glassy head high and better. After a couple of hours of pure joy I would head home to get a shower. Once arriving at work I find that we had just picked up a new large account and they were coming in with a $10,000 deposit for us to start on their first branding project. Later that afternoon I go to Crossfit see all my friends I work out with and have my best workout time to date. That evening I would throw some big steaks on the grill and make a nice meal with my wife. Sitting down for dinner I find out that she had a perfect day as well. I could go on…
Favorite WOD: “Grace”, 2000 meter row plus any running WOD’S
Least Favorite WOD: “Helen”
What time do you work out? The 4:30PM Class at CFC
How has training at CrossFit Coastal impacted your life? I feel like CrossFit Coastal has really helped me on different levels. The obvious is I’ve gotten a lot stronger and faster than when I began in December. I’ve also lost 16 pounds of body fat and learned to eat the right foods by cutting out all those bad carbs and a few other things like sweet tea… that was tough! My wife makes positive comments about my body and how it’s changing more and more. I had heard good things about CFC but it has really surpassed anything I would have imagined from the coaches to the students, the intensity of the workouts and the friendships that have been made there. I really enjoy the organized structure and encouragement that everyone shares. I have surprised myself on several occasions during workouts of the amount of weight I’m moving and at the speed of some of my workouts. I’m always excited about getting back in there and learning more as well as testing myself.
